TOMORROW’S AMERICA is the working title of an important television examination of U.S. immigration policy - - past and present - - and its likely demographic, economic, environmental, cultural and social impacts on the nation in the next few decades. The program is currently in production at locations across the country.

This Special is designed to assist citizens in understanding the history of immigration in the U.S., the mythology surrounding that history, the roots of current immigration policy in the new immigration law of 1965, leading to the "great wave" of new immigrants in the 1990s.

Overall development of Tomorrow’s America is under the direction of George A. Colburn, Ph.D., who was the writer and producer of of “The Eisenhower Legacy,” a 5-hour series on Ike’s military and political careers for The Disney Channel. Gen. Colin Powell (US Army, retired) hosted the series. A 20-part, multimedia educational series was also produced by Starbright Media, funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. Dr. Colburn's intent is to create a 6-part educational series based on the television version. Colburn recently completed production on a one-hour documentary special entitled "Navajo Code Talkers: In Their Own Words."

To illustrate current conditions, Tomorrow’s America staff and crew have traveled to communities around the country, most far from our borders, to examine immigration’s impacts on the essential aspects of our lives - - - education, medical care, employment, crime and recreation. The environmental impact of continuing high levels of immigration will be especially noted as well, in urban areas and wilderness areas alike.

Interviews about the impact of population growth and international migration trends have been conducted with outstanding scholars, policy-makers in Washington, D.C. deeply involved in the U.S. immigration debate today, and with citizens affected in their local communities by policies established in the nation’s capital.

A series of unabridged interviews from the series are available on DVD. Visit www.tomorrowsamerica.com or contact Starbright Media for more information.
